Corona FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Which regulations do the State Castles and Gardens of Hesse (SG) follow?

The SG base their regulations for visiting the individual cultural treasures on the current regulations of the Hessian state government. This means that changes can be made at short notice regarding visits to our sights. The basis is currently the Ordinance on the Basic Protection of the Population against Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Virus (CoBaSchuV for short), which has been in force since 1 October 2022.

What general rules apply in the SG facilities?

We ask all visitors to behave in such a way that they do not expose themselves or others to avoidable risks of infection. This includes observing the general hygiene rules (AHA) on their own responsibility and according to the situation. Wearing a medical mask indoors is not compulsory, but is recommended by the SG, especially in crowded situations. In the event of acute respiratory symptoms, we ask that the cause be clarified and that a visit to our facilities be postponed until a later date.

3G, 2G or 2G+?

No proof is currently required for visiting our museum spaces, museum shops and participating in events.

Where do I have to wear a medical mask?

In our museums, shops and basically in all indoor areas, there is no obligation to wear a surgical mask or protective mask of the standards FFP2, KN95, N95 or comparable without an exhalation valve (medical mask). However, the SG recommends that masks continue to be worn. This applies especially to crowded situations indoors and outdoors and to confined spaces.

What rules apply in the SG museum shops and rooms?

There are currently no corona-related rules for visiting our shop and museums. However, we recommend that you voluntarily wear a mask (surgical mask or protective mask of the standards FFP2, KN95, N95 or comparable without exhalation valve) during your stay in our museum shops and museum rooms. In the event of acute respiratory symptoms, we ask that you refrain from visiting until the cause has been clarified.

Do I have to notify a visit?

Prior registration for a visit to our cultural treasures - also as part of a guided tour - is not required, but possible. Especially for group tours or appointment requests, prior registration is highly recommended.

Can I book a guided tour or event?

Guided tours for groups in our cultural treasures can be booked on request.

You can also take part in workshops. You can find information about our offerings in our events calendar.

To book children‘s birthday events at our sites, please make an enquiry at the respective site.

What should I bear in mind when visiting towers?

Our towers can generally be visited. Please note the respective opening hours, which may vary depending on the season. When entering the tower, we ask you to behave in such a way that you do not expose yourself or other persons to any risk of infection. We also recommend that you voluntarily wear a mask (surgical mask or protective mask of the standards FFP2, KN95, N95 or comparable without exhalation valve) in crowded situations and in confined spaces.
