A Journey through the Building History
In collaboration with the “Digital Design” department of the Technical University of Darmstadt, the State Castles and Gardens of Hesse have visualised the various construction phases of Bad Homburg Palace in 3D models in 2020-21. This was based on excavation findings as well as written and pictorial sources. The film gives an idea of the Baroque palace’s predecessor buildings and enables the viewer to visually reconstruct the subsequent structural changes up to the 20th century. This architectural journey through time is part of our accompanying exhibition “From Landgrave’s Seat to Imperial Palace” on the ground floor of the royal wing.
Virtual Tour through the Imperial Rooms
After extensive restoration and refurnishing, the Imperial Rooms were documented via panoramic photographs in 2021-22. You can now virtually enter all the rooms of this time capsule of Wilhelmine residential and representative culture: Introductory texts provide an overview, and further information is available on selected furnishings. Discover how the Prussian kings and emperors redesigned their summer residence and creatively combined the landgravial palace with the comforts of modernity! The tour can be taken at your own pace in German or English. Use it as a preparation or follow-up to a tour of the original showrooms!
