Information for visitors with reduced mobility and wheelchair users
- Parking facilities
-
There are designated disabled parking spaces in the car park at the visitor centre. From there, you can access both the visitor centre and the Upper Terrace at the Niederwald Monument.
- Travelling by public transport
-
It is not currently possible to travel directly to the Osteinschen Niederwald by public transport.
- Toilets
-
There is an accessible toilet available at the visitor centre.
- Access to the Upper Terrace at the Niederwald Monument
-
The Upper Terrace at the Niederwald Monument is accessible by wheelchair from the car park. Access to the lower areas is only possible via paths with steep gradients. The gradients can exceed 20 per cent and pose a considerable challenge for many people with reduced mobility.
- Access to the visitor centre and catering facilities
-
The visitor centre and the catering facilities are accessible from the car park via a barrier-free route.
- Access to the Monopteros Temple
-
Access to the Monopteros is via paths with a steep gradient. For people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users, a visit is therefore usually only possible with assistance.
- Access to other structures in the park
-
The Rossel, Rittersaal, Eremitage and Zauberhöhle park structures are not accessible to people with mobility impairments. Due to the topography and the layout of the historic paths, there are significant restrictions for people with mobility impairments in these areas.
