Information for blind and partially sighted visitors

Parking

The An der Bleiche car park (Uferweg 8, 63571 Gelnhausen) provides designated accessible parking spaces. From there, a level footpath runs alongside the River Kinzig towards the Imperial Pfalz.

Arriving by Public Transport

Gelnhausen railway station is served by regional train services, including the Frankfurt–Fulda line. From the station, the Imperial Pfalz can be reached on foot via Bahnhofstraße, Untermarkt and Obermarkt towards Burgstraße.

Bus routes MKK-61 and MKK-62 also serve the area. The nearest bus stops are "Gelnhausen Mitte" and "Obermarkt", both within walking distance of the Imperial Pfalz.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the entire Imperial Pfalz, including during guided tours and events. Please carry appropriate proof of your assistance dog's certification and authorisation. To protect the historic parquet flooring in certain areas, assistance dogs are required to wear suitable protective paw coverings.

Information on the paths

Access to the Imperial Pfalz is via the museum shop in the Burgmannenhaus, followed by a paved surface leading into the Imperial Pfalz. Inside the grounds, the paths are gravelled, resulting in some uneven surfaces. The gate tower and the chapel can only be reached via a staircase with a handrail.

Lack of a Wayfinding System

There is currently no consistent wayfinding signage throughout the site. Stair edges are generally not marked with visual contrast.
