Information for visitors with reduced mobility and wheelchair users

Parking

There are no parking spaces directly in front of Einhard's Basilica. However, visitors may stop briefly to allow passengers to alight. Parking is available approximately 100 metres away at Graf-Raimundus-Platz. There are no designated accessible parking spaces.

Arriving by Public Transport

Einhard's Basilica is approximately a 25-minute walk from Michelstadt railway station.

The town bus connects the railway station with the town centre and the surrounding districts. The nearest bus stop is "Michelstadt-Steinbach, Darmstädter Hof".

Accessible Toilets

There are no accessible toilet facilities on site.

Access to the Basilica

The approach to the Basilica includes approximately 50 metres of cobbled paving. This section is generally manageable with a rollator or by wheelchair with assistance.

The paths leading to the Basilica are surfaced with fine gravel. Experience has shown that these paths are generally suitable for wheelchair users.

There is a small threshold at the entrance to the nave.

Access to the central nave requires crossing a very low stone threshold.

The interior has a continuous wooden floor, making it easy to walk on or use with a wheelchair.

The crypt is accessible only via a staircase and is therefore not wheelchair accessible.

The museum shop and ticket desk can only be reached via three steps.

Information on the Outdoor Paths

The paths throughout the outdoor grounds are mostly gravelled and may make it more difficult to get around using a wheelchair, rollator or other mobility aid.
